Frequently asked questions

How does it work?
Every company you rely on publishes a status page. Nazar checks the ones you pick, on a schedule, and sends you a desktop notification the moment one reports a problem or recovers. Click the menu bar icon to see the full list, or open a service to read what the company has said about an incident.
What services are supported?
Nazar monitors 1,800+ services covering AI, developer tools, cloud hosting, databases, productivity apps, monitoring, payments, and more. We support any service that uses an Atlassian Statuspage, the incident.io equivalent, publishes an RSS/Atom status feed, or runs a Better Stack or Instatus status page. If something is missing let us know and we'll try to include it!
Is it really free?
Yes. Nazar is free and open source under Apache-2.0. No subscriptions and no premium tiers. The source is on GitHub.
Does it work offline?
Nazar needs an internet connection to monitor services. If your connection drops, it retains the last known status for each service, shows an offline indicator in the dashboard footer, and starts checking again automatically when you're back online.
How often does it check?
By default Nazar checks each service every 60 seconds, configurable per-service from 30 seconds to 15 minutes. When a status page stops responding, Nazar automatically backs off so it doesn't hammer services that are already struggling.
Can I add custom services?
Yes. Beyond the built-in catalog, you can add any service by pointing Nazar at its Atlassian Statuspage, Better Stack, or Instatus status page URL, or an RSS/Atom feed. Nazar will also offer to suggest it for the built-in catalog so everyone gets it. Proprietary status page formats (custom HTML, JavaScript-rendered pages) aren't supported yet.
Is my data private?
Nazar has no accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing that identifies you. The services you monitor stay on your Mac, and we never see them. The optional app scan reads your app names locally and sends nothing anywhere.

Stop guessing what broke.

Let Nazar watch the services you depend on while you get back to work.
